Amherst Golf Club Rules

The USGA Rules of Golf and the local rules for Amherst Golf Club are provided below.

AMHERST GOLF CLUB RULES OF PLAY

as posted in the Pro Shop – updated August 2021

1. Please wear appropriate golf attire, avoiding tee shirts, tank tops, halter tops, short shorts, cut-off shorts and gym shorts. Metal golf shoes are not permitted.
2. All guests and golfers paying daily greens fees must sign in at the Pro Shop before starting play.
3. Only alcoholic beverages purchased in the Pro Shop may be consumed on the course.
4. No fivesomes are permitted, except with the express permission of the Pro.
5. Each golfer must have his or her own bag and clubs.
6. For safety reasons, no players are permitted to practice on the course by hitting multiple balls.
7. Please replace your divots and repair your ball marks (and a few others as time permits).
8. Enter and exit all bunkers from the low side (away from the green).
9. Starting play on the 6th or 8th holes is permitted only with the permission of the Pro.
10. Any individual or group with an open hole in front of them and groups waiting behind them must invite the group behind them to play through.
11. Please do not leave your bag or cart where it may interfere with the play of others.
12. After finishing the 7th hole, ring the bell to signal that the green is clear.
13. Golfers playing the 9th hole have the right-of-way in the shared fairway but should travel to the green through the right rough, except when crossing the fairway at 90° to play a shot.
14. When coming off the 9th hole, golfers playing 18 holes will alternate teeing off on the 1st hole with players starting their round.
15. Junior members are not permitted to play in adult tournaments, or otherwise play on weekend mornings unless playing with an adult member.
16. All players are expected to show proper respect for other golfers and the course. Inappropriate displays of anger or profanity may lead to disciplinary measures including loss of playing privileges.
