2023 Annual Meeting Posted October 21, 2023
Amherst Golf Club held its Annual Meeting at the club on Saturday, October 21st.
The meeting’s agenda was as follows:
• Welcome and Introductions;
• Brief updates on Club finances, Grounds projects, Women’s Association activities and Future Challenges & Opportunities;
• Recognition of 2023 tournament and league winners;
- Marie Appleby and Mike Hanieski were honored as the most improved!
• Election of Board Members for 2023-2024 (See proposed slate below);
• Questions and comments from attendees; and
• A complimentary cookout will be served after the meeting.
The following slate of Board Members were elected for the 2023-2024 term.

Dick Simpson’s 90th Birthday party celebration was held after the Legends league play this AM. The decorated UMass Professor Emeritus of Accounting received his Lifetime Membership certificate from AGC – he’s earned it many times over . . . It’s always an honor to play a round with Dick.

Congratulations to Nate Hawkins who shot an 88 to win the Amherst Golf Club’s Junior Championship on October 8, 2023. Nate Ziomek shot a 93 to place 2nd.
Also on October 8, 2023 a Member-Member/Member-Guest tournament was held with Steve Hallquist and Jeff Gold winning with a net score of 66.

2023 Men’s Singles Match Play Tournament Posted September 25, 2023

The Men’s Singles Match Play Tournament this past weekend covered a total of 45 holes of golf. The final 18 hole title matches results: On Sunday, Jim Battistoni won the 1st Division 4 and 3 against Jordan Haskell, and John Sackrey won the 2nd Division finishing 1 up over Ryan Staplin. Deron Estes won the consolation 18 hole round on Sunday.

The Women’s Over 50 tournament had Mandy Hixon win via match-of-cards with Pat O’Brien, with a low net of 34. Michelle Morgan fired a 38 for low gross.

The Hadley Open 2-Ball event had the teams of Deron Estes & Steve Hallquist tie with the team of Jon & Carter Fadick with a low gross of 2 under par 68. Carl Teschke & Doug George won low net for the open. Thomas Hutchings was the low gross Hadley resident carding a 78.
