The inaugural event for the Jack Shea Memorial Scholarship Scramble will be played Saturday October 15th with a 11 AM Shotgun. The Board is establishing this scholarship in Jack’s honor to benefit AGC’s junior golfers, who were one of Jack’s special interests both personally and professionally. His family members have signed off on this and feel that it is a perfect tribute to him.
This is also the date of the Annual Meeting for the Amherst Golf Club Board of Directors.  In recent years, the club has had a 9-hole member’s scramble and a BBQ lunch prior to the annual meeting. So this event will now become the Jack Shea Memorial Scholarship Scramble. Entry fee is $20 which includes food and scholarship donation. Both members and non members are welcome, so gather together your team (4,5,6 players) and call Dave Twohig at 256-6894 to register by Friday, Oct. 7.   The field is limited to 16 groups so start your planning now!

Drought Image Drought Text

Superintendent Carl Teshke would like the membership to know that the course has reduced it’s irrigation to “greens only”, and tees and fairways will likely be going brown if they aren’t already.   This is in compliance with the Town of Amherst’s Mandatory Water Use Restriction.

An interesting article on the drought prepared by the Massachusetts Golf Association is provided here.
