The Jay and Michelle Morgan family are in the winner circle again with 2016 Club Champion Jesse and daughters Kathleen and Merideth.

In another classic father vs. son Morgan showdown, son Jesse Morgan came from 5 strokes back on Sunday to take the lead from his father Jay Morgan to win by 2.  Jay is a 15-time club champion, and Jesse is now a 7-time winner.   Jesse entered the championship circle in amazing fashion in 2003 when he set the course record while fending off his father for his first title.  Congratulations Jesse!

The 1st Division was won by George Hassenfratz who held off Nick Stoddard.  The 2nd Division was won handily by Bob Blanchette, and the 3rd Division (played the following weekend) was won by Doug Meneke.

Club Championship Weekends are here! Posted July 6, 2016

Sign up for the Club Championship to be played July 9th-10th weekend for Men’s Championship, First and Second Divisions, and July 16th-17th for the Women’s Divisions and Men’s 3rd Division.

Note:  OPEN PLAY for members and guests will be restricted.  The following is the schedule:
Friday, July 8th – The Men’s Club Championship will be held in the afternoon. The 1st Tee will be Closed to open play at 12 noon with open play after 6 pm..
Saturday, July 9th – The Men’s Club Championship. The course will be Closed until 1:30 pm with open play after 1:30 pm.

Sunday, July 10th – The Men’s Club Championship.  The course will be Closed  until 1:30 pm with open play after 1:30 pm.

Saturday, July 16th – Women’s Club Championship and Men Handicap 19 and up.  The course will be Closed until 1:30 pm with open play after 1:30 pm.

Sunday, July 17th – Women’s Club Championship and Men Handicap 19 and up.  The course will be Closed until 1:30 pm with open play after 1:30 pm.

Call Dave Twohig at 256-6894 or stop in the Pro Shop to register, and get more details for these and other upcoming tournaments.

1. Dave has posted a sign up sheet for a 9 hole women’s golf tournament for Mon. July 4 at 1:30 ($10.00). Call the course (256-6894) or sign up next time you’re there.
2. Kate and Edith continue to work out all the details for the 9 hole Women’s Open on Sat. July 30 and will share them soon. There are registration forms available at AGC, at other area courses,  as well as at The Red Tees, Atkins and Family Golf. I have 2 glossy posters left; please contact me if you know where I can post them.

The 2016 Steamboat Classic, the club’s marquis member-guest 2-ball event, was played June 25th and 26th.  Congratulations go out to Matt Ahmed and Nick Stern in their sudden death playoff victory over Dennis Yarrows and Mike Lentner.  Both teams shot 68-67=135 gross to lead the field of 28 teams.  Matt Ahmed birdied the playoff hole to secure the win.  The Yarrows-Lentner team was also in a 3-way sudden death playoff in last year’s event.
